Abstract
This work, in its original version, was first given at a Royal Philharmonic Concert in 1928, conducted by Ernst Ansermet. It was later revised, and the first performance of the new version was by the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in 1944, conducted by Sir Malcolm Sargent. The work has been recorded by Phyllis Sellick and the City of Birmingham Orchestra, conducted by the composer, on HMV Nos. C. 3478-80
