Abstract
This arrangement of the overture from Gioacchino Rossini's "Barber of Seville" inaugurates a new series for winds including original compositions as well as arrangements for woodwind quintet and larger wind ensembles.
The woodwind quintet, a combination of instruments with great timbral variety and diversity, is exceptionally well suited in making large scale works accessible to the world of chamber music.
Our edition, taken from "The Barber of Seville", follows in the footsteps of countless period arrangements for wind ensemble, many of them by the original composer. The only difference is that the wind quintet scoring is used as conceived in the early 19th century by the Franco-Czech composer Anton Reicha.
