Abstract
"The Ways of Zion do Mourn"
The Funeral Anthem, the composition of which was completed on the 12th Dec 1737, was publicly performed on the 17th of the same month, at the funeral of Queen Caroline. The words are put together from various passages of Scripture (Psalm XV, LXI, & etc). The instrumental introduction was added by Handel two years later, when he made use of this Anthem for the Oratorio "Israel in Egypt"
